I admit that I'm not really into drow art, as you may have noticed if you went trough my gallery, and I painted it some years ago so I may remember wrong, but I think the thing is described in some Salvatore's Drizzt books (that are the only books with drows that I have read).
But if you want to share your thoughts about the tentacle rod, they can be interesting should I paint drows again.

Cyric himself once wagered that in all the Multiverse, you would be hard pressed to find an object that could rival the tentacle rod in terms of sheer amounts of possible pain.
He then makes a mental note to ask Lolth about how he might go about obtaining one....only to reconsider when he remembers who he's talking about.
Lolth, so uncool that the God of Lies, Hatred, Tyranny, Strife, Insanity, Death, Dying, and Murder;(he holds a several more portfolios too, I just can't remember which ones) thinks she's too hardcore to have dealings with.
The Drow, the ONLY mortal race that the Demons and Devils both agree is scarier then they are; And also the only mortal race who the Mind Flayers show respect to.
